Welcome Taxpayer

It is 2004 and with the help of a brilliant business associate, I've taken a big step out of the high tech industry and into my own small business.

I'm scared, I'll admit it. I am in the process of transitioning out of an excellent job in a prestigious company working with nice people who respect my work and wish that I would stay. I guess this is as good a way as I can think of to go.

It is time for me to follow my dream. I want to figure out how to live off my writing and marketing skills. If I can't make it, I can fall back on Technical Writing.

Why ataxpayer.com exists

ataxpayer.com documents how I do my taxes right. The process of becoming an independent worker is something I've put off for a long time largely because I've been so afraid of doing my taxes. Is it really slavery? I don't want to become a slave to the IRS. It is important to me to do my taxes correctly but where do I start? Is the IRS really scary if you are genuinely trying to do it all right?

A Family Site

Along the way, my mom helps me set up my books. My Mom (Sondra P. Gaylord) is an EA (an Enrolled Agent with the IRS). She's really smart. She thinks that taxes are great fun has kindly volunteered to make sure I get it right.

She promises me that the system is extremely malleable and that everything we do will be correct and legal. A good combination. So I'm going for it...wish me luck!

I invite you to come along for an honest look at ataxpayer.com's experiences, lessons and success stories.

Your suggestions and encouragement will definitely be taken to heart.

So...let the journey of a thousand deductions begin!
